Items Not Allowed at the SMKA Track
Outside of special events for which a club chaperone is present, the Santa Maria Airport Commission does not permit overnight camping or RV parking at the track. If the calendar event details do not list available camping during that event then camping is not permitted.
No bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, mini-bikes, golf karts, etc.
Absolutely no drones, SMKA is located on airport property.
Airboxes & Fuel Catch Cans
Airboxes are REQUIRED on ALL karts at the Santa Maria Track. Fuel Catch Cans are REQUIRED on ALL Shifter and 4-Stroke karts at the Santa Maria Track.
Driver Safety Requirements:
Helmet
Full-face helmet with a SNELL rating of SA, k, or M 2015 or later. Youth helmets require a Snell rating of CMR or CMS 2016 or later.
Driver Apparel
A full-length karting suit is ideal, however not required. At a minimum, drivers must have full-length jeans and a jacket made of leather, vinyl, abrasion-resistant nylon, or equivalent. Cotton jackets such as sweatshirts are NOT acceptable.
Gloves
Full Finger gloves are required while driving at all times.
Shoes
Closed-toe shoes and socks are required wile driving at all times.
Neck Collar
Collar-type, unaltered neck brace designed for motorsports use is mandatory.
Chest Protector (ages 12 and under)
A karting-specific chest protector is required for all children 12 and under.
