This page is dedicated as a fast reference to common questions regarding track access, costs, events, and resource links.
1) I’m not a member but would like to visit the track to see if karting is for me or for practice, what are my options?
Contact us through the Contact Us page or social media with a detailed message. Track access is limited to members and their guests, but if you don’t know a member we can arrange a time to host you as a guest. SMKA does not have regular “Open” hours for the public, Non-Member track access is limited to scheduled events, or through a member that can host you.
2) Does SMKA have Rental Karts?
No, SMKA does not have rental karts available for test drives, or racing.
If you’ve not experienced an outdoor racing kart and would like to test, we recommend Adams Kart Track in Riverside, or Prairie City Kart Track to the north in Rancho Cordova. Indoor karting such as K1 Speed is a good karting experience prior to outdoor karting. Outdoor karting is very different than indoor karting, with much lighter karts, higher speeds, and much more grip.
3) Where is the Track?
3951 S. Blosser Rd. Santa Maria 93455
The Gate is only open during scheduled event days. Otherwise, membership access is required to visit the SMKA Track. SMKA does not have regular “Open” hours for the public, Non-Member track access is limited to scheduled events, or through a member that can host you.
4) What is your membership like?
Memberships are calendar annual, Jan-Dec of each year. SMKA members are granted gate entry access and are able to use the track at their convenience on days on which no events are scheduled. Members are also permitted to host their guests for the daily non-member driver fee of $60, and $10 non-driver. Memberships are pro-rated at a reduced cost at mid-year.

5) I’m unsure what kind of kart I should start with, or what my kid should start on, what kart should I buy?
Reasons for buying a particular kart will vary, some people enter karting based on what class has the largest racing numbers regionally, and some buy a kart and engine that fits their mechanical ability with no interest in racing.
See our Technical Resource Page for information on Karts.
